The Final Cut - Angelina Jolie

Cataclysmically maligned upon its release in 2004, Alexander - whether it deserved it or not - became the first candidate for the decade’s equivalent of Ishtar. It was viewer unfriendly, overly convoluted, and hard to get through. It was instantly dismissed and critically abused. It was director and co-writer Oliver Stone’s epic telling of the life of Alexander the Great, but so complex is his story, so varied the influences on the empire builder’s life, that when the film was edited into a practical theatrical runtime, it seemed incomplete and inaccessible.

Alexander’s story is dictated to a scribe by Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins), a former general of Alexander’s vast armies and now a sitting Egyptian pharaoh. We learn of Alexander’s childhood. He’s encouraged by his ambitious mother, Olympias (Angelina Jolie in a role more suited to an older actress) and diminished by his dismissive father, Macedonian King Philip (Val Kilmer). We trace the influences on his development and watch Alexander (Colin Farrell in a remarkably unconvincing blonde wig) as a young adult lead a military sweep across the Middle East and beyond. We learn of his bisexuality and his generosity with defeated enemies willing to pledge and maintain allegiance. It is a cradle to grave epic that cried out for a more complete cut to achieve cohesion, and to help us understand the man more fully.

Stone tried once before to re-edit the film into a more satisfying form when he created the director’s cut for the 2005 DVD release. But that 167-minute version was actually eight minutes shorter than the theatrical release. The flow had been improved, but the subtext and clarity still hadn’t been achieved fully. To paraphrase Mike’s reaction at the time, “No, it’s not the kind of movie that those with distinct tastes will be able to stomach, and no, those who want their historical epics to come with the same old alternating history lesson and set piece structure will never make it past the half-hour mark, but for those interested in seeing a big-ass Hollywood movie made in a sometimes unsuccessful, always captivating way, Alexander is your ticket. And even if you think I’m full of hot air, consider this: it’s nowhere near as bad as you heard it was.”

Despite the critical drubbing the film received upon its theatrical release, it managed to earn $167 million at the box office worldwide and previous DVD releases sold nearly three and a half million units. That motivated Warner Home Video to give the director, who must have been a bit obsessed with the film, the opportunity to edit it once more and create the definitive version. Says Stone, “Over the last two years I have been able to sort out some of the unanswered questions about this highly complicated and passionate monarch -- questions I failed to answer dramatically enough. This film represents my complete and last version, as it will contain all the essential footage we shot. I don’t know how many filmmakers have managed to make three versions of the same film, but I have been fortunate to have the opportunity because of the success of video and DVD sales in the world, and I felt if I didn’t do it now, with the energy and memory I still have for the subject, it would never quite be the same again. For me, this is the complete Alexander, the clearest interpretation I can offer.”

The film now runs a whopping 214 minutes and it’s spread across two discs. An intermission, similar those found during road show presentations of epic films like Lawrence of Arabia and 2001: A Space Odyssey, ends the first disc at about the two hour mark. It’s a logical break and most welcome, although I fully expect this extended film to fit within the confines of either one HD DVD or Blu-ray Disc when it’s released in HD later this year. The film’s structure still shifts back and forth in time, but the non-linearity is thematic, linking events, influences, and historical background.

I did not see the film in either of its two previous forms, but for a reviewer, that may be an advantage. I was not burdened with previous impressions or expectations. I was simply free to react to Stone’s creativity. So I may not be able to answer the question of whether or not Stone succeeded in improving the film. What I can say is that I found the film to be a worthy epic, entertaining speculation on the life of an iconic historical figure. Many of the deficiencies cited in previous cuts have been resolved. Alexander’s influences and motivations are clearer. His bisexuality is addressed more specifically without being exploitative. I cannot know how thoroughly previous version explored disaffection during his brutal and costly campaign of conquest that lasted nearly a decade, but this version makes clear Alexander’s tortured psyche and its effect on his generals.

Stone has chosen to make major structural changes as well. By beginning at the end and then taking the audience through the events that led to that end must be more poignant than found in the former cuts. But a 214-minute investment is substantial, so as I watched, I was always somewhat aware of a need to be sufficiently observant to spot sequences that could be excised or trimmed without having an impact on the final cut. And while I felt that some of the sequences could be considered a little self-indulgent, I really never found myself becoming impatient. This may not be a great film, but it is certainly a good film.

The Video: How Does The Disc Look?

The film’s 2.35:1 aspect ration is presented in an excellent anamorphic transfer. The disc contains no supplements whatsoever. There is only one audio track. There are only English subtitles and Closed Captions. So virtually all the bit budget on the two double-sided discs could be dedicated to the video. As a consequence, typical MPEG-2 artifacts have been greatly suppressed or eliminated. Halos are virtually nonexistent. Those that are visible are extremely subtle and never intrude. I didn’t notice any mosquito noise. And only in highly dynamic scenes that contained very high visual density of many small objects did I seem to notice some subtle macroblocking. Color reproduction is excellent, from the bright red armor adornments to the dramatically colorful Babylon, I was never disappointed. Flesh tones and Angelina Jolie’s mesmerizing eyes have hues that are very natural. The video dynamic range is quite good. I saw no white crush, but I cannot say the same about the other end of the video. Black levels do not reach down to the darkness of the letterbox bars. The deepest black is sometimes an exceptionally dark blue; sometimes black is an exceptionally dark brown. In either case, the transfer (or perhaps the original film - I cannot say) suffers from black crush that frequently masks shadow detail. For example, when Alexander is wrestling with his voluptuous nude bride, Roxane (Rosario Dawson), her hair becomes an amorphous black blob; all texture and detail are gone. Regardless, this is a much better than average transfer that should satisfy the demanding viewer.

The Audio: How Does The Disc Sound?

The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is a bit bipolar. Most of the time, the mix is very front-centric, focusing the viewer’s attention on the dialog. But during the battles or during a forced march through jungle or forest, the mix opens up and envelops the viewer. I did not notice any sounds emanating from my center surround, so I’m forced to assume that EX decoding will neither help nor hinder. This may have been before the age of gunpowder and explosives, but that doesn’t preclude a satisfying bottom end. The footfalls of elephants in the Indian jungle or the hooves of horses galloping across the desert reach deep into the bass region. I did not care for the score by Vangelis; I felt it to have insufficient gravitas and dramatic punch for such an epic story. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the musical presentation, either. But the spoken word remains crystal clear throughout.

There is no alternative language track and the only optional subtitles are in English. You’ll also find English Closed Captions.

Supplements: What Goodies Are There?

Oliver Stone spends a few minutes explaining his reworking the film in an optional introduction. That is the only supplement on this 2-disc set. Perhaps Warner Home Video and Stone believe that the Final Cut should be a companion to the more feature-rich Extended Edition release.

The 214-minute film is organized into forty-seven chapters.

Exclusive DVD-ROM Features: What happens when you pop the disc into your PC?

None are included on this disc.

Final Thoughts

Alexander has immerged in a new form with what I have to assume is higher entertainment value. Readily available for under $19, it’s a very good value for those who have not yet purchased a previously released DVD. But for those who have, you should be a fan of the film or an admirer of the director to consider the investment. For all, if you do pick up the discs, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Having it all the Angelina Jolie way

Having it all the Angelina Jolie way

Angelina Jolie plays a long-suffering wife trapped in a loveless marriage with a CIA agent in new drama The Good Shepherd, opening on February 23. She explains why she and Brad Pitt are more focused on adding to their family than getting married.

It was the worst kept secret on the planet, but now that angelina jolie and brad pitt have come clean about their relationship, the once-elusive star is positively shouting it from the rooftops.

The besotted actress insists the affair didn't start while they were shooting their movie Mr And Mrs Smith, and is adamant that Brad Pitt had already split from ex-wife Jennifer Aniston before they got together.

But she admits there was a special bond from the moment angelina jolie met the hunky actor.

"I got a good feeling about Brad Pitt straight away," angelina jolie says blushing. "But I never expected to become involved with him. I was happy as a single mother, but we stayed good friends after filming. I think we knew we f elt something for each other."

The pair are now inseparable and have sealed their love with the birth of their baby daughter, Shiloh, born last year. Brad has also become a hands-on dad to angelina jolie's adopted children, Maddox, five, and Zahara, two.

Angelina jolie can't contain her joy that they are now one big, happy family.

"Brad is a wonderful father," she beams. "Raising kids is hard but it's also a great joy and it's just wonderful to have somebody to support you through. We definitely want more."

It's an enviable domestic set-up. Not only are brad pitt and angelina jolie probably one of the most beautiful couples in movie history, they're also one of the most successful.

Brad, 43, is currently winning rave reviews for his latest movie Babel, while brad pitt and angelina jolie has notched up box office hits such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Alexander. She's also bagged herself an Oscar for her 1999 movie Girl, Interrupted.

Yet despite her on-screen success, it's clear there's only one role the modest star really values - motherhood. The mere mention of her brood brings a sparkle to the famous feline eyes.

"Motherhood is everything and more I expected it to be," brad pitt and angelina jolie enthuses. "I love being a mum. We definitely want more kids. Brad pitt always wanted a big family too, and adopting more children is part of our plan, too."

The actress says being a mum not only dictates how much she works these days, but also her movie choices.

That's why angelina jolie agreed to take on her latest film role - a seemingly dramatic departure from the usual feisty, independent heroines we are used to seeing her play.

In The Good Shepherd, directed by Robert De Niro, angelina jolie plays Clover, the subservient wife of one of the first CIA agents (Matt Damon), who can only stand back and watch as his work destroys their family.

However, the star says it was Clover's love for her son that convinced her she'd be able to take on such a challenging role.

"It was her commitment to him and the fear that he would end up involved in CIA work, too - this dangerous world - which was the one thing that kept me grounded to her character. There was so much about her that I didn't identify with, but I could really identify with her protective feelings as a mum," explains the 31-year old star, who recently lost her own mother to cancer.

Angelina also says she relished the chance to play a rejected and unloved wife - something the stunning beauty has probably never experienced in reality.

"I like the fact there were many things about her that were broken. I don't normally get to play that part," she smiles. "She is very vulnerable and broken. She is affected by all the negative things about the world. She is married to it, and a victim of being around nothing honest; being shut down as a woman, limited as a woman."

You couldn't say the same for blissfully loved-up angelina jolie, but the star insists angelina jolie's in no hurry to walk down the aisle again.

"It's not something we feel the need to do and we've never really discussed it too much, because we don't think there's anything missing," says the actress, who has been married twice before, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

And despite having it all - fame, beauty, wealth and success - this is clearly one star who seems to be genuinely uncomfortable with celebrity status, making a concerted effort to avoid it at all costs.

"I make a point of not letting it change the way I live my life," she says of her fame. "I plan things so that I've got quality of life that's private and nice for the kids. We just don't let it affect us."

The star also puts her money where her mouth is. Angelina jolie's famed as much for her charitable work around the globe as for angelina jolie screen success, and says that's where her true motivation lies.

"I will continue to work with refugees and will never shift my focus from them because that's where my heart lies," angelina jolie says simply.

"We've just come back from Cambodia. We're supporting a huge area of protected forest for many, many villagers. It's a huge project but I'm learning so much.

"Brad pitt has also been working in New Orleans with the victims of Hurricane Katrina and we want to do something in Ethiopia, Zahara's birthplace - maybe support an orphanage there. We hear about something that's going on and we just want to get involved."

Not that the talented star is about to give up her acting career for good. Angelina jolie's currently working on a big screen adaptation of Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged and is rumoured to be lined up to star in Sin City 2.

But for now the contented star has plenty on her plate, what with saving the world, being a devoted mum of three and one half of Hollywood's most golden couple.

"I'm in a very peaceful place in my life right now," angelina jolie says with a euphoric smile. "I do wake up in the morning and realise I have a very fortunate life."

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt to adopt again?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are to adopt a Vietnamese boy, it has been claimed.

The couple - who have three children, adopted five-year-old son Maddox and two-year-old daughter Zahara, and their nine-month-old daughter together Shiloh - are reported to have filed adoption papers.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have filed papers with the US Citizenship and Immigration services to adopt a boy from the Tam Binh orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City."

The couple visited the orphanage together in November and Angelina Jolie returned alone last month.

The Good Shepherd actress has made no secret of her desire to adopt children from all over the world.

Angelina Jolie recently said: "If we're going to have ten kids, we'd like to raise them while we're young."

Angelina Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia and Zahara from Ethiopia. Brad became joint guardian of the children when he and Angelina Jolie's relationship became serious.

Angelina Jolie Pic

HATHAWAY INSPIRED BY Angelina Jolie

Actress ANNE HATHAWAY has credited ANGELINA JOLIE with transforming her life and Hollywood career. THE PRINCESS DIARIES star insists she was insecure before meeting the GIRL, INTERRUPTED actress, but soon changed her outlook on life after Angelina Jolie urged her to "stop being silly".

She says, "I just love Angelina Jolie's fearlessness, Angelina Jolie provocativeness. Before I met Angelina Jolie, I was in this mindset where everybody hated me, and I hated me, and everything was too much. "Angelina Jolie made me see how silly I was, how I couldn't just sit on my ass."

Billy Bob and Angelina Jolie Still Talk, Share Hemoglobin

Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie still keep in touch , which is nice. Didn't he exit the picture when she started her own United Nations?

Angelina Jolie marriage to Billy Bob Thornton crashed within months of her adopting son Maddox. But that hasn't stopped Billy Bob and Angelina from staying in contact. "Angie and I talk all the time," Billy Bob says. "We try to keep in touch every day. We've always been friends and there will always be a spot in my heart for her." In fact, Billy Bob often finds himself in the odd position of having to defend his ex-wife. "It always ticks me off when people talk bad about Angie."

I always liked those crazy kids together. It was such a good example of "this is my old man, Billy Bob. He takes good care of me, and when Ima through dancin' on the pole down at Chixx, he picks me up in his truck and we go shootin' bottles in the VFW parking lot."

To give credit where credit is due, they had the best red carpet interview I have ever seen in my life. It was the premiere for "Gone In Sixty Seconds", and some vapid bitch was interviewing all the stars by asking "what's the wildest thing you've ever done in a car?" So Billy is standing there, with Angelina basically kneeling between his legs like a pet and only rising once in awhile to nibble his ear because she rolled cat-like and needy and silent in those days.

And he gets asked that question, and he states - "Wildest thing I've ever done in car? Well, we f*cked in the car on the way over..." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Tremendous! The reporter didn't know what to say, only to pray there was a delay button. I don't care that he beat his wife before that with his Oscar, he rocked from that day forward with me.

A year ago Brangelina might have been a shoo-in for Hollywood's hottest couple, but as the couple's number of houses and children grows, is this couple's chemistry going the way of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith?" Or are they still (both) in your fantasies?

Is Jordana Brewster the Next Angelina Jolie?

No, we don’t mean Jennifer Aniston should hide her next boyfriend from this actress.

And orphans from other nations probably shouldn’t make plans to move in with Jordana Brewster just yet.

But the newly engaged actress does have something in common with Angelina Jolie and fans around the television world will soon find out what it is:

Brewster will be reprising Angelina Jolie’s role in Mr. and Mrs. Smith for an upcoming series.

That movie, of course, is where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt grew quite close.

So while no male co-star has been named yet, his significant other may wish to keep an eye on how he and Brewster interact.

There’s just something about playing married hit men that draw actors close to one another.

The same goes for big breasts.

The New Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt

They were a rumored couple while filming the wild scenes during the blockbuster action hit 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie began falling in love while filming the movie, and apparently were very competitive during the training of the scenes as well. But it is time for the pair to move on - there's a new Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt - or at least a new Mr. and Mrs. Smith coming to a small screen near you.

The New Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt

Pitt and Jolie have been replaced for the television version of the big-budget film by Martin Henderson and Jordana Brewster.

***

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ABC adaptation – Henderson's first American television project – will be a pilot for a possible series. It was announced last week that Brewster has landed the coveted role of Mrs. Smith. The sexy star will take over where Angelina Jolie left off when the spy versus spy drama hits TV in America next year.

Now the Australian press is claiming that Mrs. Smith has a mate. Kiwi actor Martin Henderson, who began his career on New Zealand television, is to step into the role Brad Pitt made famous in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

***

His New Zealand manager Karen Kay said the Mr. and Mrs. Smith pilot was "the most talked about" new television show in the United States. "It's a fantastic opportunity. Since he first walked into my office when he was 19 years old I knew he would be an international star."

Both have some very big shoes to fill, and it will be interesting to see if the television version can excite American audiences.

Angelina Jolie's Children's Charity Still MIA

Nearly 17 months after the orphan-rescuing actress-slash-UN envoy announced a deal to create a new children's charity with St. John, the project in question is still little more than a kindly notion. Nobody would call Angelina Jolie uncharitable, but somehow Angelina Jolie good deeds never seem to keep pace with her promises.

In September 2005, luxury apparel maker St. John hired Angelina Jolie Hot as its new spokesmodel. As part of the arrangement, the company agreed to create a foundation benefiting
children's causes, which Angelina Jolie was to oversee. Though no timetable was set, a St. John spokeswoman assured Radar in September that an announcement about the fund's structure and beneficiaries would be announced "definitely before the end of the year."

Last week, however, that same Angelina Jolie's spokeswoman said, "The charity hasn't been
formed yet at all." After promising to look into the matter, Angelina Jolie never called back. Nor did Angelina Jolie's manager, Geyer Kosinski.

Of course, Angelina Jolie has had a busy year and a half, starring in The Good Shepherd and the upcoming A Mighty Heart, about murdered journalist Daniel Pearl, along with giving birth to Shiloh Nouvel Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt, her daughter with pseudo-husband, Brad Pitt.

Maybe Angelina Jolie needs a little prodding to remind her of her commitments? After all, it worked last time.

NATIVE AMERICAN ACTIVIST'S LIFE STORY RELEASED TO HONOUR JOLIE'S MOTHER

angelina jolie hot photo, angelina jolie hot pictures, angelina jolie naked

The documentary ANGELINA JOLIE's late mother MARCHELINE BERTRAND executive produced before her death last month (JAN07) is to be rush released on DVD as a tribute to the actress. TRUDELL follows the lifestory of Native American poet and activist JOHN TRUDELL, who famously burned an American Flag on the steps of the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC, while protesting the US government's policy on American Indians in 1979. Following the protest, Trudell's pregnant wife and three children were killed in a suspicious arson fire on a Nevada reservation.

The activist then spent the next four years driving across America in a car given to him by his friend and fellow activist JACKSON BROWNE, honing his craft as a poet. He released a protest album with Browne in 1983. The film, which won acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, features interviews and tributes from VAL KILMER, ROBERT REDFORD and KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, among others. Meanwhile, Jolie, who is also credited as an executive producer on the film, was so touched by Trudell's story she agreed to help produce his current album, BONE DAYS.

Angelina Jolie Promised Dying Mother She Would Wed Brad Pitt

angelina jolie hot photo, angelina jolie hot pictures, angelina jolie naked

Hollywood vamp and all-around do-gooder Angelina Jolie has allegedly vowed to marry boyfriend Brad Pitt, after making a promise to her dying mother.

The Mr And Mrs Smith stars were both at Marcheline Bertrand's bedside when she lost her seven-year battle with ovarian cancer last month (27Jan07) at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Angelina Jolie is reported to have made the pledge hours before her beloved mother's passing, sparking speculation of a marriage within months.

A source close to the family tells British newspaper the Sunday Express, "Marcheline held Angelina Jolie's hand and told her, 'You marry that man. He's an angel sent to look after you.'

"Marcheline almost looked on him as a son. Angelina Jolie thought the world of him and was constantly nagging Angie to 'wed that man'."

The friend adds, "Brad has never stopped trying to push (Angelina Jolie) down the aisle but Angelina Jolie's always resisted, saying that it's the children who legally bind them together.

Angelina Jolie a Prime Paparazzi Target After Mother's Death

angelina jolie gallery, angelina jolie hot pictures, angelina jolie wallpaper

The American media runs on a 15-minute news cycle online and with celebrity news it is even sometimes faster than that. It was one week ago that Angelina Jolie lost her mother and one would think that there would be a moratorium on the star getting the long lens treatment. Not so - in fact - Angelina Jolie may be prime paparazzi target number one.

Is it really that bad? A report from nightly entertainment news show Access Hollywood explains. Normally when someone you know loses someone they loved very much, you give them their space. Sadly, the same can’t be said of the paparazzi, who don’t seem to be too moved by the death of Angelina Jolie’s mother Marcheline Bertrand.

***

The report explains that a visibly annoyed Brad Pitt was mobbed by the paparazzi (and subsequently blinded by flash bulbs) as he left his office this week trying to get home to Angelina Jolie and his kids.

In fact, it was so bad, Brad Pitt needed a police escort to his motorcycle. According to the report online from AH the paparazzi siege began early in the day as photogs staked their claim outside of Brad’s office, yelling at policemen who were issuing them parking tickets.

Not only did they harass Brad’s police escort, but they even taunted Pitt as he left the building.

“Has Jon Voight tried to contact you guys yet?” one yelled. “Be careful on your bike now,” another said smugly.

I may be in the minority but - ick!

Angelina Jolie's mum last wish: Jolie should marry Pitt

angelina jolie hot photo, angelina jolie hot pictures

Angelina Jolie's mother Marcheline Bertrand reportedly wanted Angelina Jolie to marry Brad Pitt.

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's brother James Haven were at Marcheline's bedside when the 56 year old died at the weekend after a six year battle against ovarian cancer.

A source told Us Weekly: "Everybody cried. Marcheline told Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt that she loved them. It was incredibly emotional."

"Marcheline approved of their relationship completely. And Brad loved her."

A second source told Star magazine that Marcheline "spent the most time with Angelina Jolie [and] she told Angelina Jolie that her dying wish was for [Angelina] to marry Brad."

"Marcheline adored Brad and believed he was an angel sent into their lives to take care of Angelina Jolie."

Star also reports that while it's not marriage, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt held a simple commitment ceremony on the beach during their Christmas holiday to Costa Rica: "They stood in the sand in their bare feet, looked into each others'eyes and promised to love each other forever and to be loving with their children for just as long."

The source added that they exchanged simple rings, which they wear on their right hands, to symbolise their relationship.

Mom's dying wish, a Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt wedding

Angelina Jolie Poster, Angelina Jolie Photo Gallery, Angelina Jolie Hot Pic

Before succumbing to her illness, Angelina Jolie's mother Marcheline Bertrand requested her to marry boyfriend Brad Pitt. Bertrand, 56, reportedly adored Pitt.

Angelina Jolie was by her mother's side at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre Jan 27 when the former actress faced the final hours of her seven-year battle with ovarian cancer. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's brother, actor James Haven, were also there.

'Bertrand was heavily medicated but she was conscious for a lot of time. She asked Brad Pitt to take care of Angelina Jolie and the kids (their adopted children Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2, and biological daughter Shiloh, 8 months). And she made a similar plea to her headstrong daughter,' reports hollywood.tv.

'She spent the most time with Angelina Jolie and her dying wish was for her to marry Brad Pitt. Even during her darkest days over the past months, Bertrand had urged Jolie to marry him. Bertrand adored Pitt and believed he was an angel sent into their lives to take care of her daughter,' the portal added.

It seems that despite her publicly vowing that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt would not marry, the actress may walk down the altar to fulfil her mother's last wish.

Mom Of Angelina Jolie Told Brad Pitt "I Love You" Before Death

angelina jolie movies, angelina jolie hot pictures, angelina jolie naked

Angelina Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, loved Brad Pitt. Bertrand, who died of cancer on Jan. 27 (07), felt at ease that her daughter Angelina found a 'good man' to take care of her.

On Saturday (Jan.27), 31-year-old Angelina Jolie and 43-year-old Brad stayed beside Bertrand at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center before her passing.

A friend of Jolie says: "Everybody cried."

"Marcheline told Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt that she loved them. It was incredibly emotional."

Bertrand had truly grown to like Brad Pitt, especially compared to the other men Jolie has chosen for herself.

USWeekly reports: 'Shortly before the birth of daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt last May, Bertrand told Us, "I love Brad. He is wonderful. I am very, very happy and very excited for them." The Babel actor even accompanied Jolie on her visits to the Raffles L'Ermitage, Beverly Hills hotel where Bertrand lived in a suite.'

A source says, "Marcheline approved of their relationship completely. "

"And Brad Pitt loved her."
